.Schipperkes
I approached the small entry with some trepidation fearing there might be a lack of quality, but I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the exhibits. With only one absentee I was in the fortunate position of finding two outstanding CC winners. I endeavoured to visualise the exhibits minus a tail to accustom my eye to their balance which I found to be helpful.
PD (1) 1 Hart’s Byquy Polar Express, at 11 months he is big enough & one hopes he has stopped growing, cream, in the most lovely quality jacket, clean & well presented, nicely developed in front & decent rear, good dark pigmentation, pleasing expression, holds topline well & is nicely ribbed up. Lazy with his tail. Excellent mover in both directions. Just failed on balance in the BP challenge. PGD (0). LD (2) 1 Donaldson’s Carozza To Hot Too Handle, neat black, the perfect Schip outline, well carried head, correct skull, lovely ears & the darkest of eyes. Perhaps a shade more definition between skull & muzzle than is required but overall very appealing. Perfect mouth, super hard jacket with good frill, excellent rib & couplings, moved rather well for his young handler who did a good job with him. RCC; 2 Reed’s Bquy Couscous, very young cream who was not yet ready for this class. Rather longer in loin than 1 & not settled to his task as yet. In good condition, pleasing in colour. Coat a little soft. Head properties appeal & he was pleasing on the move, but his front construction could be better. OD (2) 1 Morley’s Am Ch Chatelet Aradet Rugby, this black walked in, positioned himself as his handler requested & demanded to be admired, the epitome of Schipperke outline, standing foursquare & with the best of toplines, great side action, but did crab a little on the straight until he settled down. Lovely head, dark eyes, neatest of well set ears, enough fill to his muzzle & sufficient stop leading to flat skull with nice width, well developed neck & ribcage, short coupled & encased in hard coarse jacket of correct length, bone of sufficient strength to compliment the whole with tight feet. CC & BOB; 2 Reed’s Byquy Polar Prince, longer cast cream, pleasing head properties, clear dark eyes, good pigmentation. Rather an upright front assembly which does not help his overall length. Nice spring in rib, good bone to legs. Front feet could be tighter. Nice on the move.
PB (1) 1 Donaldson’s Carozza Athena, 10 months & rather finely constructed all through. Typical in head, dark eyes, well set on ears & pleasing wedge to head, she will develop which will improve her as the basics are all there with well sprung ribs, good overall balance, nice legs & feet, pleasing front action. Tending to sway a little going away, but place might sort this out. BP. JB (1) A. PGB (0). LB (1) 1 Robjohns’ Qwontox Celtic Quest, quality 6 years who surprisingly has not got her title. Rather nice in head, though her stop is a tad deep. Dark eyes, good mouth & correct set on of ears, excellent shoulders & front assembly, nicely rounded ribcage which extends well back, pleasing overall length & rear of correct width, nicely boned. Moving a shade tidier in front than rear, but a quality exhibit. RCC. OB (3) 1 Hart’s Ch Carozza Molly Malone with Ludwyn, winning 5 years with that distinctive Schip outline, maybe a shade longer than the males, but such good quality. Jet black, harsh coat of correct length, lovely front & shoulders, good angles, very typical in head with all the correct features, excellent topline & neat rump, moved very well & easily notched up another CC; 2 Robjohns’ Ch/Ir Ch Qwontox Ebony Eyes, typical exhibit, super shape, moves exceptionally well & it is not until one observes the grey on her muzzle that one realises this is a veteran. In superb condition, lovely head, the tightest of elbows & good bone, tight feet, a credit to her owner; 3 Morley’s Ch Aradet Rumour Has It over Trijem.
