Duchess figurine sells for over £900

.OLD NEWS?

I had th t.v. on in the background today and an old Bargain Hunt (circa 2004) came on. They went to the auction rooms Gildings in Market Harborough for their sale of the items. Whilst there Tim the presenter flagged up a little Beswick figurine. It was called Duchess , and it was the little dog in Beatrix Potter’s story The pie and the Patty Pan. I nearly fainted as I had been searching the internet for dog figurines of Schipperkes a couple of nights ago!

Needless to say the sale took place, the figurine was estimated at £600 to £800 as it was VERY RARE. It made £920.

Beatrix Potter's Duchess

Beswick Beatrix Potter Figure, Duchess with Flowers – Gold Oval Backstamp (Black dog, multicolored flowers). Modeled by Graham Orwell, issued 1955 – 1967. Size 3.75”H

What struck me about the figurine was that it definately did not look like a Pomeranian!

Searching for more I also found-
